For the third year we sent in our range to the Australian International Beer Awards. These are the big daddy of Beer competitions and a medal here is a big deal. Last year we got three from three and this year four from four!

The medals are great yes, the comments from the judges are a good clue for where you are in the pecking order too. The judges score on a set criteria and the amount of points equals the colour of the medal - Our Nectaron Hazy has always done well in the competitions and was a whisper off a Gold. Here is what they said:
Nectaron Hazy - a very enjoyable beer
IPA - firm caramel malt base - bitterness on point
Golden Lager - great presentation very clean finish with nice grain malt character
Sunbreaker - very refreshing with sweetness. This one split the judges so it’s your turn to be the judge!
The non-alc category has exploded in the three years we have entered this competition.
For the second year in a row State Of Play is the most awarded brewery in this category. Woohoo!
Good representation from NZ with Altitude Brewing, Bach Brewing and Garage Project also doing well
